Free Zi Wei Dou Shu Calculator
Enter your date and time of birth to build your Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star) chart: 12 palaces with their major stars, how bright each star is, and where the four transformations land. Every palace and major star links to what it means.
How to read your chart
- Start at the Life palace (命宮), marked on the chart. Its major stars describe your baseline character.
- Read the palaces that work with it: the opposite palace and the two palaces in its triangle (the Career and Wealth palaces).
- Check brightness and the transformations: a bright star (廟, 旺) shows its strengths more easily, and 忌 marks where you tend to over-focus.

FAQ
Why does the Zi Wei Dou Shu calculator need a birth time?
The Life palace (命宮) is set by the lunar month and the birth hour. A time off by one shichen (two hours) moves the Life palace to another branch, and every star moves with it. If you only have an estimate, use the closest hour and treat the result as provisional.
Do I enter the Gregorian or the lunar date?
Enter the Gregorian date. The calculator converts it to the lunar date before it places the palaces and stars.
How accurate is the chart from this calculator?
It is calculated with the same engine as the SPYLL report. Zi Wei Dou Shu schools differ on some small rules, so a chart from another site may not match exactly, mostly in the minor stars.
My palace has no major star. What does that mean?
A palace without a major star is called an empty palace. Read it by borrowing the major stars from the opposite palace, with a lighter weight.
How is Zi Wei Dou Shu different from BaZi?
Both use your date and hour of birth. BaZi reads the balance of the five elements across four pillars, while Zi Wei Dou Shu places stars in 12 palaces, each standing for one area of life such as career, partner, and money.
